Love love love Fox & the Knife! Atmosphere is warm and inviting, the service is friendly and on top of it, and the food is amazing! We got the focaccia, broccoli Caesar, clam linguine and bolognese. Then we got the panna cotta for dessert. The showstoppers were the Caesar and the linguine, but I don’t think you can go wrong with any dish. I recommend this restaurant for any occasion!
The food was good overall. We were told to order five to six dishes, but for two people, four would have been more than enough. Ironically, we ordered five, and the very first dish ended up being the best of the night. The standout was the beef tartare served on a baguette. It was beautifully seasoned. The chef’s seasoning brought out the delicate flavor of the beef, and we enjoyed it thoroughly. We also ordered the vongole and the carbonara, both of which were unique. The carbonara was done in a ravioli-style format rather than the usual spaghetti, which made it a refreshing twist. The vongole was spicier than the traditional version, and while unconventional, I personally enjoyed it. However, the meat dishes were underwhelming. The chicken dish was quite sour, which was clearly intentional, but it did not feel like the best use of the ingredient, and we were not particularly impressed. The fried pork was very mediocre and not distinctive. It felt like something you could easily find elsewhere. Coming from a country with many excellent fried pork dishes, this one did not meet my expectations. Overall, the restaurant was good, but the experience felt rushed. Since being listed in the Michelin Guide, it seems to have become much busier, and that showed in the pacing of the meal. While the food was solid, I am not sure I would return anytime soon. That said, it is still worth trying and forming your own opinion.
Came here in the spring so don't remember it perfectly but had a very good time. The food was all flavourful and well seasoned. The pasta was also great. The broccoli caesar and the ravioli carbonara were two of my favories. And both were more interesting takes on classic dishes with robust flavour. The chicken escarole was also one of my favorite chicken dishes. Extremely well cooked! Service was great as well. Lived up to the hype and well worth trying! Looking forward to returning to try other parts of the menu.
We had such an incredible experience at Fox & the Knife. The food was outstanding—so well seasoned, so flavorful, and nothing felt fussy or overworked. We sat at the chef’s counter and the service was phenomenal from start to finish. My husband ordered a habanero mocktail that he loved, and I had the Winter Fizz, which had this perfect tart pop from the pomegranate. The focaccia came out savory, salty, and wonderfully crispy. The endive salad honestly surprised me—in the best way. You taste everything: the richness of their amazing olive oil, crunch from the nuts and herbs, the little bitter snap from the greens, and this smooth, creamy yogurt tying it all together. The bucatini was spot-on with just the right amount of warm pepper and perfect chew. The pork Milanese was cooked beautifully—still slightly pink inside—and that mustard aioli was fire. And the desserts! My husband ordered the creamsicle and said it was incredible. I had the panna cotta, which almost ate like a savory cold cheese course. I loved it so much that I bought a bottle of their olive oil on the way out. Such a fantastic meal and overall experience. We can’t wait to come back!
We recently had the pleasure of dining at this Italian gem in Boston, and our experience was nothing short of spectacular. We reserved seats at the chef’s table, which turned out to be the highlight of the evening. Watching the chef at work—skillfully preparing each dish with precision and passion—gave us a true appreciation for the artistry behind the food. The service was impeccable: attentive without being intrusive, and each course was perfectly timed. The staff was knowledgeable and eager to share details about the ingredients and pairings, which elevated the whole experience. As for the food, every bite delivered rich, authentic flavors. From the fresh pasta to the perfectly balanced sauces, it was clear that the kitchen takes pride in sourcing high-quality ingredients and letting them shine. The chef even sent out a few surprises along the way, making the meal feel personalized and special. The combination of atmosphere, service, and outstanding cuisine made this an unforgettable night. Dining at the chef’s table isn’t just a meal—it’s an experience, one that I’d recommend to anyone who loves Italian food and wants a front-row seat to culinary craftsmanship.
We had a fantastic experience at this restaurant. We were a group of 11 and they took such great care of us. The service was impeccable. Our server, Emma, was so helpful. The team was super accommodating to the many allergies in our group. Another staff member, Stef, was attentive and always checked to ensure we were happy and took care of every need. The food was soooo good, I can’t pick a favorite. Five stars all around!!
Came here for birthday/wedding anniversary meal, they made special printed menus wishing us a happy anniversary and birthday, really cute keepsake! Amazing meal, perfect portion sizes, very fresh and well prepared ingredients! Loved sitting at the chef's counter and the food was paced to perfection. Kitchen incredibly clean and chefs were focused, calm, and seemed to be enjoying their work-lots of smiling and camaraderie. Chef at the pass was super focused but very calm, radiating a chill vibe for the whole kitchen, they also checked on our meal when we were finished which was nice. All folks who were working there seemed busy (the place was packed!), but not overwhelmed--seems like a well oiled machine. Can't wait to come back with our friends! Hazelnut tortelli was one of the tastiest dishes I've eaten in many many years, and the pate and gnocco fritto were very close seconds.
Great service from Sabrina to walk through the menu and match our appetite with the different courses. If your group is able to share that is recommended. We had a group of three and started with cocktails (off the seasonal menu - if it's still there get the Mulled Sour) and some shared plates before each having our own Primi course (which we still ended up sharing tastes of) and finished with a dessert each. The order is taken completely with all courses up front and the pacing was spot on. The bathrooms also had a nice array of items for those needing to freshen up (hair tie, bobby pins, floss, hairspray, etc.) The most popular at our table was the floss. We left full and walked for a while taking in the different spots along the neighborhood.
